The government has allocated Sh2.4 billion for the June 2026 cycle of the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme, benefiting more than 1.2 million vulnerable Kenyans.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that 1,213,156 registered beneficiaries, including older persons aged 70 and above and individuals with severe disabilities, will each receive Sh2,000 for the month.
The funds, totaling Sh2,426,312,000, were released via the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs as part of ongoing efforts to support vulnerable households.
Supporting Kenya's Most Vulnerable
Principal Secretary Joseph Motari highlighted that the Inua Jamii programme is central to the government's social protection strategy, aiming to alleviate poverty and cushion vulnerable groups from economic hardship.
"Payments began on August 3, with each beneficiary receiving Sh2,000 for the June cycle," Motari stated.
The cash transfers are intended to help beneficiaries meet basic needs and improve their livelihoods amid rising household costs.
