Kenya exited the tournament at the group stage after finishing last in Group A without securing a single point. The team lost 4-0 to hosts Morocco, 1-0 to Senegal, and 2-0 to Algeria in their final match at the Olympic Stadium.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed expressed regret over the poor results but attributed them to the team’s limited experience in continental competitions.
“We will undertake a comprehensive review with our technical committee to understand the reasons behind these outcomes,” Hussein said. “The coach’s future will be determined once the report is finalized.”
Despite the setback, the FKF is focusing on rebuilding the squad ahead of future tournaments. Hussein highlighted the importance of the experience gained, noting that it had been ten years since Kenya last participated in the continent’s premier women’s football event.
Preparation and Support
Addressing concerns about the team’s readiness, Hussein defended the federation’s efforts, citing a pre-tournament training camp in Miramas, France, and full logistical support.
“The players received all their allowances and were promised bonuses,” he added. “Allegations of inadequate preparation are unfounded.”

Kenya’s WAFCON return follows a decade-long absence since their 2016 debut. Meanwhile, regional rivals like Tanzania have made significant progress, highlighting the need for Kenya to accelerate development to compete effectively at the continental level.
