Eight teams secured their spots in the Main Cup quarter-finals of the Kabeberi 7s tournament following three rounds of pool matches held at Nairobi's RFUEA Grounds on Saturday.
Kenya Harlequins, KCB, and Menengai Oilers stood out by completing their pool matches unbeaten, setting up compelling quarter-final clashes.
Key Performances in Pool Stages
- Kenya Harlequins opened with a dominant 36-7 victory over Kisumu RFC, then defeated Impala RFC 35-5, and wrapped up pool play with a 19-7 win against Daystar Falcons. They will face Mwamba RFC in the quarter-finals.
- Mwamba RFC advanced after a narrow 22-21 win over Nondescripts and a strong 35-7 victory against Catholic Monks, despite a 29-12 loss to Strathmore Leos.
- KCB Rugby recorded three wins, starting with a 28-0 rout of Nakuru RFC, followed by 29-14 over MMUST, and a tight 12-7 win against Kabras Sugar, earning a quarter-final match against KU Blak Blad.
- Menengai Oilers impressed offensively with three straight wins: 29-7 over Blak Blad, 32-5 versus MSC Rugby, and 38-14 against Zetech Oaks, amassing 99 points in pool play. They will meet Kabras Sugar in the quarters.
- Strathmore Leos also advanced, overcoming a draw with Nondescripts and securing wins against Catholic Monks and Mwamba, setting up a quarter-final against Daystar University.
- Daystar Falcons started strong with wins over Impala and Kisumu but lost their final pool match to Harlequins.
- Kabras Sugar won their first two matches before a narrow loss to KCB.
