National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has voiced support for the arrest of Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia, emphasizing that political leaders should respect legal procedures rather than protest when colleagues face charges.
Speaking during a meeting with village elders at State House on Tuesday, Ichung'wah criticized some leaders who condemned Kaguchia's detention following remarks the MP allegedly made at a political rally in Kieni, Nyeri County.
He urged senior leaders to refrain from defending politicians accused of inflammatory statements that could threaten national peace. "If you are a true leader, you should condemn those who engage in criminality and endanger the lives of Kenyans, not defend them for political gain," Ichung'wah stated.
The Majority Leader also warned against ethnic-based politics, highlighting that tribal mobilization undermines national unity and stability.
