The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially commenced the recruitment process for its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace Marjan Hussein Marjan, who previously held the position.

The role, currently filled on an acting basis by Moses Ledama Sunkuli since February 5, 2026, involves heading the IEBC Secretariat, overseeing administrative functions, and serving as the Commission’s accounting officer and custodian of records.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Leading the Secretariat to ensure professional and ethical execution of IEBC’s mandate.
  • Implementing Commission decisions and supervising staff.
  • Managing financial and administrative operations and strategic planning.
  • Mobilising resources and safeguarding Commission documents.

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens with a university degree and at least five years of management experience. Relevant expertise in electoral matters, governance, finance, public administration, law, or political science is required. Candidates must also comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution relating to leadership and integrity.

Interested candidates should submit a signed application letter, detailed CV with three referees, certified academic and professional certificates, a copy of national ID or passport, and clearance certificates from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, and a registered Credit Reference Bureau.

The appointment will be for a four-year term, renewable once based on performance.
