The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appointed Ruth Kulundu as the Acting Chief Executive Officer and Commission Secretary for a two-month term starting August 5, 2026. This interim appointment follows the expiration of Moses Ledama Sunkuli's six-month tenure as acting CEO on August 4.
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon confirmed that Kulundu's temporary leadership aims to maintain smooth operations during the ongoing recruitment process for a substantive CEO and Commission Secretary. The new permanent appointee will oversee the commission’s administrative and financial functions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Recruitment Details for Substantive CEO
- Applicants must be Kenyan citizens with a university degree.
- Minimum of five years’ management experience required.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution is mandatory.
- Clearance certificates from EACC, DCI, KRA, HELB, and a Credit Reference Bureau are necessary.
- The position is on a four-year contract, renewable once based on performance.
