The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced seven vacancies at the director level, aiming to bolster its senior management team.

The open positions include:

  • Director of Voter Education and Partnerships
  • Director of Research, Electoral Boundaries and Risk Management
  • Director of Human Resources and Administration
  • Director of Internal Audit and Compliance
  • Director of Finance
  • Director of Corporate Communications
  • Director of Counties and Constituencies Coordination

Each role is classified as job grade 3, with one vacancy per position. Candidates must be suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated to apply through the IEBC's e-recruitment platform, where detailed job descriptions and application procedures are available.

Applicants are required to submit a signed application letter, a detailed CV listing current and past employers and roles, contacts for at least three professional referees, a copy of their national ID, and academic and professional certificates. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, August 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

Concurrent Recruitment for Commission Secretary/CEO

Separately, the IEBC is also seeking applicants for the critical role of Commission Secretary and Chief Executive Officer. This position involves leading the commission's administrative functions and implementing policies.

Applications for the CS/CEO role must be submitted by August 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. via email to recruitment@iebc.or.ke, quoting "Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CS/CEO)" in the subject line.

Candidates must satisfy constitutional requirements for public office holders and demonstrate the necessary academic qualifications, professional experience, and leadership skills stipulated by the IEBC Act and related laws. Shortlisted candidates will undergo vetting that includes clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, and a registered Credit Reference Bureau.

This recruitment follows the earlier departure of former Commission Secretary and CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan. Moses Ledama Sunkuli has been acting in the role pending this appointment. The successful candidate will serve a four-year term, renewable once, and will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, financial management, staff leadership, and ensuring the commission fulfills its constitutional mandate with integrity and efficiency.
