Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has topped the 2026 Infotrak CountyTrak Performance Index as Kenya’s best-performing governor, securing an 80% approval rating according to a survey released on August 4, 2026.
The annual survey by Infotrak Research and Consulting evaluates public satisfaction with county governments and governors, focusing on leadership, service delivery, and development implementation.

- Wisley Rotich (Elgeyo Marakwet), Anyang’ Nyong’o (Kisumu), Simon Kachapin (West Pokot) – 65%

Other notable rankings include Simba Arati (Kisii) and Jonathan Lelelit (Samburu) tied at ninth with 63%, while Patrick Ole Ntutu (Narok) placed 11th with 61%. The survey highlights a competitive field across all counties.
County Performance
Murang’a County also emerged as the top-performing county overall with a 54% score, followed by Kiambu (52%) and Trans Nzoia (50%). This reflects strong governance and service delivery in these regions.
