Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has refuted claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is leading opposition efforts to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at the ACK Cathedral in Embu, Kalonzo emphasized that opposition leaders are independently planning their political strategies and cautioned against portraying Uhuru as the main organiser of campaigns against Ruto.
"Do not paint a picture that Uhuru is organising us to face Ruto. We are organising ourselves to face Ruto and nobody will do it for us," Kalonzo stated.
He clarified that the upcoming Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Council meeting, which Uhuru chairs, is focused on strengthening the coalition rather than plotting against the current administration.

Media speculation had linked Uhuru’s involvement in the Azimio meeting to efforts to consolidate opposition forces against Ruto. However, Kalonzo stressed that opposition leaders are driving their own political plans.
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition was formed before the 2022 elections, bringing together parties like ODM, Wiper, and Jubilee around Raila Odinga’s presidential bid. Raila lost to William Ruto in that election.
Kalonzo has reiterated his commitment to opposition unity and ruled out working with Ruto, advocating for a collective alternative political path.
