Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has delivered a strong caution to opposition figures, particularly Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, against engaging with President William Ruto without the coalition's consent.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after meeting with the Linda Mwananchi coalition, Kalonzo warned that any leader who meets President Ruto behind the alliance's back would be deemed a betrayer of the national interest.
He explicitly addressed the rumours of secret talks between opposition leaders and State House, saying, "If I hear that Edwin has met with Ruto, that will be the end of it. If my brother Riggy G tries to meet Ruto, that will be the end of it."
Kalonzo alleged that unnamed emissaries are attempting to weaken the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election by reaching out to individual leaders.
The Linda Mwananchi alliance, which includes Wiper, DAP-K, Jubilee, and other parties, aims to present a united front against President Ruto's administration.
Opposition Ticket Leading in Polls
A recent Infotrak survey released on July 13, 2026, shows the Kalonzo Musyoka-Edwin Sifuna presidential ticket leading nationally with 23% support, positioning it as the most favoured opposition pairing ahead of the 2027 elections.
The poll indicates strong backing for the duo among young voters aged 18 to 26, where they command 31% support, and the Western region, with 36% preference.
