Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has publicly refuted rumors of a clandestine meeting with President William Ruto at State House, asserting that their next encounter will be at the 2027 general election ballot.
Speaking at the SKM Command Centre in Nairobi while hosting members of the Linda Mwananchi opposition faction, Kalonzo accused President Ruto and his online supporters of orchestrating a deliberate smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
"I am under attack with false claims that I met Ruto recently. I appreciate this team for standing with me to defend my name and our constitution," Kalonzo said.
Direct Challenge to President Ruto
Addressing President Ruto directly, Kalonzo urged him to stop entertaining the notion that he would join the Kenya Kwanza administration ahead of the upcoming election.
- "Please stop imagining that I will ever join you," Kalonzo declared.
- "We will meet at the ballot on August 10 next year, God willing, where the real conversation will take place."
He also wished good health to both the president and fellow opposition leaders to enable a competitive and fair election.
Clarifying His Whereabouts Amid Rumors
Kalonzo explained that following a breakfast meeting with senior media editors on July 28, he traveled to Tanzania for a brief private break. It was during this period that the unfounded reports of a secret meeting with President Ruto emerged online.
By addressing these rumors head-on, Kalonzo reaffirmed his dedication to the opposition cause and the democratic process ahead of the 2027 polls.
