Kenya Airways has reported that flight KQ784 from Nairobi to Cape Town encountered a tyre burst shortly after landing on Tuesday afternoon.

The aircraft touched down safely at Cape Town International Airport around 3:30 pm local time on August 4, 2026. The incident occurred during the landing process, but the flight crew followed safety protocols, ensuring all passengers and crew disembarked without injury.

Passengers were promptly escorted to the airport terminal for their safety. Following the tyre burst, Kenya Airways cancelled the return flight KQ785 from Cape Town to Nairobi to allow technical teams to inspect and repair the plane.

In a statement, the airline apologised for the disruption and assured affected travellers that they would be contacted directly to provide assistance. Kenya Airways emphasised that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority.

Details on the number of passengers onboard and the timeline for resuming normal operations on this route have not yet been disclosed.
