Kenya Airways has reported a tyre burst incident involving one of its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft upon landing at Cape Town International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
The affected flight, KQ784, was operating a scheduled service from Nairobi to Cape Town and landed safely at around 3:30 p.m. local time. Following the tyre burst, the airline confirmed that all passengers and crew disembarked without injury and were escorted to the terminal.
As a result of the incident, Kenya Airways has cancelled the return flight KQ785. The airline's engineering and technical teams are currently working to repair the aircraft and restore it to service.
Kenya Airways emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains their highest priority. The airline also expressed appreciation for the professionalism of the flight crew during the incident and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation.
Passengers affected by the cancellation will be contacted directly to receive assistance and alternative travel options.
