Kenya's cricket team secured a thrilling one-wicket win over Bahrain in the second T201 international match held at Nairobi Gymkhana Club Ground, evening out the two-match series at 1-1.
Bahrain set a challenging target of 149 runs, largely thanks to Fiaz Ahmed who top-scored with 65 runs. Earlier, Ahmed had anchored Bahrain’s innings with an impressive 88 off 49 balls in the first match, which Kenya lost by 15 runs despite a strong 73-run effort from captain Dhiren Gondoria.
Kenya’s chase in the second match was tense and closely contested, but the team managed to hold their nerve to snatch victory by the narrowest of margins.
Coach and Captain Praise Team’s Resilience
National team coach Joseph Angara described the win as a significant morale booster. He commended the team’s fighting spirit and ability to withstand Bahrain’s pressure bowling. "Bahrain bowled well and challenged us throughout, but our team kept fighting and I’m proud we restricted them and secured the win," Angara said.
Captain Dhiren Gondoria echoed these sentiments, highlighting the improved bowling performance and the team’s composure under pressure. "Compared to the first game, we bowled better and restricted our opponents despite the mounting pressure. Our patience and continuous improvement helped us capitalize on the chances we created," Gondoria added.
