Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has revealed plans for a series of electricity interruptions on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, affecting selected areas across five counties.

The power outages are part of routine maintenance and upgrades aimed at improving the reliability of the electricity network, connecting new customers, and replacing aging infrastructure.

Maintenance Schedule and Affected Areas

KPLC has advised residents in the following locations to prepare for power cuts between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM:

  • Uasin Gishu County: Soko, Tuiyo Village and nearby areas (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Migori County: Kehancha Town, Taranganya, Ntimaru, Gwitembe, Kegonga, Getongoroma, Kobinto, Masangora, Komosimo, Carose, Senta, Komotobo, Matare, Maeta, Nyaroa, Komasicha, Komomwamu and adjacent customers (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Nyeri County: Iruri Market, Karandi Market, Iruri Village, Iganjo Village, Mutaga Market, Safaricom and Airtel Boosters, Juakali, Zaina, Miagayuini, Githima Polytechnic, Zaina Dispensary, Miagayuini Shopping Centre, Kanyinya Market and surrounding areas (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Kiambu County: Kagia Farm, Acre Tano, China Wu Yi and adjacent customers (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Kitui County: Katse Market, Kimangao, Kimu, Maseki and nearby locations (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

KPLC cited Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules as the legal basis for issuing advance notice of the planned outages.

The utility urges affected customers to make necessary arrangements to minimize disruption during the maintenance window.
