Nairobi-based technology company Robisearch has introduced an anonymous reporting platform designed to empower students to confidentially flag concerns within their schools before problems escalate.
Founder Robert Manyala explained that many school crises follow a familiar pattern: students often sense issues long before administrators but lack a safe way to report them. The new cloud-powered tool aims to bridge this communication gap.
How the Platform Works
- Students can submit reports via mobile phones or shared devices without revealing their identity.
- Complaints are sent directly to a secure dashboard accessible only to authorised school officials.
- Urgent issues like bullying, sexual harassment, drug abuse, and physical threats are automatically prioritised for immediate attention.
- Each report is time-stamped and permanently logged to ensure accountability.
- Being cloud-based, school leaders can monitor submissions remotely in real time.
Addressing Challenges in School Communication
Manyala highlighted that traditional reporting methods, such as physical suggestion boxes, often fail because students fear exposure or retaliation. The digital platform offers anonymity, encouraging more honest and timely reporting.
This initiative comes in the wake of numerous incidents of unrest in Kenyan secondary schools, including arson attacks and tragic fires like the one at Utumishi Academy, which claimed 16 lives. Experts attribute such events partly to poor communication channels between students and school management.
By providing a confidential and accessible channel for students to report issues early, Robisearch’s platform aims to help schools intervene before situations escalate into strikes, fires, or other forms of unrest.
