A graduate of Kenyatta University (KU) from Budalangi, Busia County, is set to advance his studies in the United States after receiving a fully funded scholarship. Eugene, who earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance, will pursue a Master of Science in Finance at the University of Kentucky.
Overcoming Early Hardships
Growing up in Budalangi, Eugene faced significant challenges. He walked eight kilometres daily to attend Sirimba Primary School, often surviving on a single meal each day. Despite these difficulties, he remained determined to improve his circumstances through education.
Discovering and Securing the Scholarship
After completing his undergraduate studies, Eugene actively searched for scholarship opportunities online. His breakthrough came when he saw an advertisement for the International Scholars Program (ISP), which offers fully supported scholarships for study abroad.
He described the application and preparation process as "seamless," with the ISP team managing all logistics and paperwork. Eugene’s role was to participate in each stage as required, making the experience straightforward and manageable.
Looking Ahead
Eugene expressed gratitude toward the ISP, praising it as an excellent program that changed his life's trajectory. He is now preparing to embark on his studies at the University of Kentucky, hoping to leverage his advanced education to create better opportunities for himself and his community.
