Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has dismissed allegations by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that he received advance intelligence from government insiders regarding President William Ruto's Vision 2060 launch.
Speaking during a church service at ACK St Stephen's Chepkoilel in Eldoret, Murkomen described Gachagua's claims as false and intended to create a misleading impression of his access to Kenya's security apparatus.
Murkomen Points to Public Information
The CS highlighted that President Ruto had already signaled his plans publicly through a Facebook post on the morning of July 27, prior to the official unveiling of Vision 2060.
"Early that morning, before the report was unveiled, His Excellency had posted on Facebook about discussing Kenya's future," Murkomen said, adding that no secret briefing was necessary.
Allegations Seen as Political Posturing
Murkomen further accused Gachagua of fabricating stories to maintain political relevance by suggesting he still holds influence within the security and intelligence sectors, despite his impeachment as Deputy President in October 2024.
"It is a deliberate attempt to mislead Kenyans and project a false narrative of having special insider information," Murkomen stated.
