The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has confirmed that payments to invigilators, supervisors, and other personnel involved in the 2025 national examinations will commence on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere announced the payment schedule amid ongoing concerns over delays affecting examination officials. The announcement followed a statement by Basic Education Principal Secretary John Ololtua, who assured that the Ministry of Education had already disbursed the necessary funds to KNEC to facilitate these payments.
During a session with the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education on August 4, PS Ololtua stated:
- "I informed the Committee that the Ministry has already disbursed the funds to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), and payments to examination personnel will commence on Thursday, 6th August 2026."
The meeting addressed concerns from examination officials awaiting remuneration for their roles in administering national exams. The timely release of funds aims to resolve these pending payments and prevent disruptions in future examination processes.
