Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women's basketball team continues to dominate the National Women's Basketball Premier League under the guidance of head coach Samuel Ocholla. The team remains unbeaten, holding a perfect record of 17 wins in as many games.
Last weekend, the Dockers secured a commanding 70-39 victory over Zetech Sparks at USIU Grounds, despite a last-minute venue change from Nyayo. This win solidified their position at the top of the league standings with 34 points.
Coach Ocholla commended his players for their discipline and adaptability, highlighting their effective execution of the game plan and strong transition play. He also praised the squad's depth, noting that the team managed to perform well despite missing three key players on national duty.
- Two players are representing Kenya in the national 3x3 team in Glasgow, Scotland.
- One player is competing with the national Under-18 team in Cairo, Egypt.
- The team operated with a lean nine-player rotation, with all members stepping up to fulfill their roles.
Looking ahead, Ocholla emphasized the team's focus on maintaining their unbeaten streak through the remaining six to seven regular-season games. Their ultimate goal is to secure a top seed in the playoffs and reclaim the national championship trophy for the Port of Mombasa.
"Everything is progressing as planned. We remain focused on preparation and execution as we aim to bring the title back home," Ocholla stated.
