The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has officially handed over a state-of-the-art fish cold storage facility and ice-making plant worth Sh126.9 million to the Msambweni community in Kwale County. Located in Kinondo, the infrastructure aims to address the persistent challenge of fish spoilage that has long affected local fishermen and traders.
For years, fishermen in Msambweni have struggled with inadequate preservation options, often forcing them to sell their catch at low prices due to rapid spoilage. The new facility is expected to extend the freshness of fish, enabling better market prices and reducing post-harvest losses.
