The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has initiated a specialised VIP Security Course tailored for Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers. The training commenced on August 3 at the National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA) and aims to enhance the protection capabilities of key KRA personnel.
Facilitated by experienced NCIA instructors and subject-matter experts, the programme integrates theoretical knowledge with practical exercises. This approach ensures officers are well-prepared for sensitive VIP protection roles, particularly in high-risk and high-pressure environments.
Training Focus Areas

- Developing sharp situational awareness for swift responses
- Enhancing sound judgment and mental discipline under stress
- Fostering teamwork and coordination among security personnel
- Promoting inter-agency collaboration with other law enforcement bodies
The training is critical for KRA officers, given their roles in tax collection, customs enforcement, and anti-smuggling operations, which often expose them to powerful and sometimes hostile actors. Senior officials, including commissioners, require protection comparable to other government leaders due to the sensitive nature of their duties.
By equipping KRA officers with advanced security skills, the DCI aims to strengthen the overall protection framework around high-profile individuals within the revenue authority.
