The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened applications for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) September 2026 intake. Prospective students have until 11 August 2026 to submit their applications via the KUCCPS student portal.
About KMTC and KUCCPS Placement
KMTC is a leading public institution in Kenya specializing in middle-level health training. It offers certificate, diploma, and higher diploma programmes across various healthcare disciplines, including Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Radiography, Public Health, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Community Health.
Under the Universities Act 2012, KUCCPS manages student placement to colleges and universities nationwide. KCSE holders from 2022 to 2025 who qualified but missed earlier placements are eligible to apply for KMTC programmes through KUCCPS.
Eligibility and Courses
Applicants must meet minimum KCSE requirements for their chosen courses. Certificate programmes generally require a minimum mean grade of C−, while diploma courses require at least a C grade. Notably, the minimum Biology grade for the Certificate in Health Insurance Management has been lowered from D+ to D plain.
KMTC offers over 30 certificate and diploma courses, each with specific subject requirements. Interested applicants are advised to consult the KUCCPS portal for the full and updated list of available programmes and campuses.
Application Process
- Visit the KUCCPS student portal and log in using your KCSE index number, year, and password (birth certificate or KCPE index number).
- Navigate to the KMTC Programmes section to review available courses and minimum entry requirements.
- Select preferred programmes and note their codes.
- Under the KMTC Application tab, enter programme codes in order of preference and submit your application.
- Pay the application fee of KES 1,500 through the portal to complete the process.
In-Service and Upgrading Applicants
Practising healthcare professionals seeking to upgrade qualifications must apply directly through the KMTC Admissions Portal. The deadline for these applications is also 11 August 2026.
