Kuwait's Ministry of Health has approved a comprehensive revision of allowance packages for nursing and midwifery staff, including both Kuwaiti nationals and foreign workers. The new structure, formalised through Ministerial Resolution No. 206 of 2026, aims to recognise experience, qualifications, and job responsibilities.

Allowance Details for Foreign Nursing Staff

Foreign nurses and midwives, who constitute a significant part of Kuwait's healthcare workforce, will receive allowances tailored to their professional grade. The package includes components such as work nature allowances, shift and supervision bonuses, cost of living support, and training incentives.

  • Senior nursing technicians (Category A) may receive up to KD 130 (about KSh 54,600) as a work nature allowance.
  • Additional benefits include a job level bonus of KSh 25,000, a cost of living allowance of KSh 20,900, and an on-call allowance of KSh 41,800.
  • Advanced academic qualifications earn extra monthly bonuses: KSh 20,900 for PhDs and KSh 10,450 for master's degrees relevant to nursing practice.

Higher Allowances for Kuwaiti Nursing Professionals

Kuwaiti nationals serving in nursing and midwifery roles are set to receive higher allowances than their foreign counterparts. Monthly allowance ranges include:

  • Assistant nurses and midwives: KD 1,040 (approximately KSh 436,800)
  • Head nursing and midwifery specialists: KD 1,510 (around KSh 634,200)

Other grades receive allowances scaled between these figures, with senior specialists earning KD 1,430 and nurses KD 1,110. Kuwaiti staff with specialised university degrees gain additional professional bonuses ranging from KD 100 to KD 500, alongside academic bonuses of KD 150 per month for PhDs and KD 75 for master's degrees.
