A 29-year-old woman from Laikipia County has been arrested following the discovery of her 66-year-old husband’s body buried under the floor of their bedroom.
Jackson Mungai had been missing for several weeks before police, acting on a tip-off, were led to the scene in Mramati village by the suspect herself.
Police Investigation Uncovers Concealed Body
Laikipia East Police Commander Daniel Kitavi confirmed that officers recovered the remains from the couple’s home in Nyakumu area, Segera Ward, Laikipia North. The body was found covered with soil beneath the bed.
Two weapons believed to have been used in the attack—a machete and a metal rod—were also seized at the scene.
Relatives Raised Alarm Over Property Sales
Concerns arose after the woman began selling the couple’s possessions shortly after Mungai’s disappearance, prompting family members to notify the authorities.
Neighbours noted that the couple had been married for only about two months. One resident described how a dispute inside the home escalated, leading the woman to fatally strike her husband before hiding his body.
