Legal representatives of Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia have accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of obstructing their access to the legislator after his arrest on August 3, 2026.
Advocates Ndegwa Njiru and Wakili Muriu reported that upon arriving at the DCI headquarters shortly after Kaguchia's detention, they were denied permission to meet their client. Njiru stated, "We are at the DCI reception with Hon. Muriu, and the DCI has issued instructions that we should not be allowed to access our client, Hon. Kaguchia."
Context of Arrest
Kaguchia was apprehended after spending the night at Royal Media Services (RMS) following an interview on one of its vernacular TV stations. The MP is under investigation for allegedly making inciteful remarks during a political gathering in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County.

Before his arrest, Kaguchia alerted the public to an intense security operation at the RMS premises. He described the scene as being dominated by over 40 hooded, masked, and heavily armed men in about 13 vehicles, including Subarus and double-cab pickups, with no uniformed police officers visible.
