Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced that the Linda Mwananchi movement will hold its next significant rally in Homa Bay County on Sunday, August 16, 2026. This marks a strategic expansion of the opposition-aligned mobilisation campaign from Western Kenya into the Nyanza region.
In a statement shared on social media on August 2, Sifuna invited supporters with the message, "Next tunachachisha Homa Bay," signaling the movement's intent to build momentum beyond its recent strongholds.
Strong Turnout in Western Kenya
The announcement follows a series of well-attended rallies across Western Kenya counties including Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Busia. Notably, the rally at Amalemba Grounds in Kakamega attracted diverse participants such as residents and youth groups from across the county.
The Bungoma rally on July 26 stood out with thousands of supporters gathering for what organisers described as a "mega rally," featuring Sifuna alongside other opposition leaders. Similar events in Busia reinforced the movement's growing presence in the region.

Western Kenya, home to over two million registered voters, remains a pivotal region in Kenya's political landscape, often influencing presidential election outcomes.
