The Linda Mwananchi movement is set to host a civic engagement event in Homa Bay County on Sunday, August 16, continuing its nationwide tour aimed at mobilising citizens ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The campaign, known as the Linda Mwananchi Tour, has been engaging residents across various counties, encouraging active participation in discussions on governance, the economy, and the rising cost of living.
Recent stops included counties in Western Kenya, where Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna led opposition leaders in public forums. The tour featured engagements in Trans Nzoia and other parts of the region, with local leaders welcoming the delegation.
In addition to public meetings, the movement has intensified efforts to raise funds directly from supporters through a paybill number. This grassroots fundraising initiative allows citizens to contribute small amounts, starting from as low as Sh10, to support the movement’s activities.
Senator Sifuna has emphasised transparency in the management of funds raised, framing the approach as reflective of mature democracies where public financing plays a key role in political mobilisation.
The movement’s recent fundraising success includes collecting Sh3 million in a single day, demonstrating the impact of widespread small contributions.
