Police in Trans Nzoia County have apprehended a 32-year-old man suspected of murdering his wife in Sabwani Village, Kiminini Sub-County.
The arrest followed a report to local authorities, prompting officers from Waitaluk Police Station, alongside detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) teams, to visit the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased lying lifeless on a bed with several visible injuries, including a dislocated right shoulder, a deep cut above her right eyebrow, and wounds on her right leg.
Initial investigations suggest the fatal attack stemmed from a domestic dispute between the couple. Authorities continue to investigate to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Crime Scene Investigation officers processed the scene before transferring the body to Cherangany Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
The suspect is currently detained at Waitaluk Police Station as detectives finalize their inquiries ahead of court proceedings.
Context of Domestic Violence Cases
This case emerges shortly after a High Court in Kisumu sentenced a man to death for murdering his wife, son, and two relatives in a separate, brutal family attack in Muhoroni Sub-County.
In that case, Justice Joe Omido cited the aggravated nature of the killings due to the familial relationship and circumstances. The accused had initially denied charges but later pleaded guilty after a psychiatric evaluation confirmed his fitness to stand trial.
