Social media influencer and aspiring politician Mercy Masai has publicly refuted claims linking her romantically to Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi. In a candid video recorded inside her car, Masai addressed the rumours directly while calmly eating a passion fruit.

She challenged the public's fixation on her alleged relationship with Sudi, criticizing those who have labelled her a "side chick." Masai emphasized that both she and Sudi are adults capable of making their own choices.

Cultural and Religious Context

Masai referenced her Maasai heritage, highlighting that polygamy has been traditionally accepted in her community. She also cited biblical figures such as Moses, David, Solomon, and Esther to illustrate how society has historically recognized multiple-partner relationships.

Regarding her connection with Sudi, she stated, "We are good friends. If we decide to love each other, we will love each other. No one will stop us," but clarified that currently, they remain just friends and urged the public to end speculation.

Political Aspirations and Independence

Mercy Nashipai Legilisho, as she is formally known, has declared her intention to run for the Kajiado County Woman Representative seat in the 2027 general elections. She firmly rejected any notion that she is politically sponsored, asserting, "My Godfather is God. So stop looking for a sponsor. It's God, full stop."

She also spoke on bearing public scrutiny on behalf of her family, describing herself as the one who chose to absorb criticism to shield her loved ones.

Masai concluded by urging everyone to move on from the dating rumours. "Let's put it to rest. Those with opinions, those who know better, take a mic," she said.
