Migori County has been shaken by a brutal mob attack at Mapera Shopping Centre in Suna East Sub-County that claimed the lives of three men, including a county government employee.
Governor Ochilo Ayacko confirmed that Stanley Ojowi, an electrician with the Migori County Department of Energy, was on official duty performing routine maintenance on floodlights when he was killed.
Details of the Incident
- The victims were subjected to mob violence and set on fire, with one body burnt beyond recognition, according to Migori County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga.
- A vehicle belonging to the men was also torched at the scene, where four solar panels were recovered before the vehicle was towed to Migori Police Station.
- The bodies were taken to Migori County Referral Hospital morgue pending autopsy and formal identification.

Governor Ayacko described the incident as a "shameful act of lawlessness" and a tragic loss for the families and the county. He condemned the rise of mob justice, warning it undermines peace, public safety, and development.
"We are a government of laws, not mobs," the governor emphasized, urging residents to respect the rule of law and allow authorities to handle disputes and suspected crimes.
David Ocholla, Chairman of the County Public Service Board, praised Ojowi as a dedicated employee and assured that the county government would support his family during this difficult time.
Ongoing Investigation and Call for Peace
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and to identify those responsible. Commander Imbwaga appealed to the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to report suspicious activities to the police instead.
Governor Ayacko extended his condolences to the bereaved families and called for swift justice, praying for the victims to rest in peace.
