Police Constable Jillo Maalim Lucas, who was reported missing on August 1, has been found dead in Kilifi County. The officer, attached to Mikindani Police Station in Jomvu Sub-County, was discovered between two shipping containers near Bonje shopping centre.
The body was located on August 3 after Mazeras Police Station received a report about an unidentified male found at the scene. Colleagues and family members positively identified the remains as those of PC Lucas.
Following identification, officers from Mikindani Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the recovery site approximately 11 kilometres west of Mazeras Police Station.
The deceased was taken to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death or how long the body had been at the location.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding PC Lucas's disappearance and death. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named so far.
The incident has raised concern among security personnel and local residents as detectives continue their inquiry.
