Police Constable Jillo Maalim Lucas, who was attached to Mikindani Police Station in Mombasa, was found dead in Kilifi County, authorities confirmed.
Officers from Mazeras Police Station recovered an unidentified male body at Bonje Shopping Centre and transported it to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary. The deceased was later positively identified as PC Jillo by his colleagues and family members.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the officer’s body was discovered wedged between two isolated shipping containers on the outskirts of the shopping centre. Investigators noted bruises on his shoulder, the back of his head, and fingers of his right hand, raising suspicions that he may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the scene.
The police have not yet disclosed the exact circumstances or whether foul play is confirmed. The body remains at the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as inquiries continue. The officer’s family has been informed of his death.
A police team revisited the scene as part of the ongoing probe into what is currently treated as a murder investigation.
