Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia has raised serious concerns over an alleged security operation targeting him at Royal Media Services (RMS) headquarters.
In a series of social media posts early Monday, August 3, 2026, Kaguchia described how more than 40 heavily armed, hooded and masked men in about 13 vehicles, including Subarus and double-cab pickups, surrounded the media station. He noted that no uniformed police officers were visible during the incident.
The MP said the operation began shortly after his appearance on a local vernacular TV show, where he was reportedly the target of an intended arrest. Initially, he mentioned police had set up roadblocks around RMS to detain him but later clarified that those present were not in uniform.
Kaguchia criticized the approach, stating:
- "This is total disregard of the law! If you want to arrest me for whatever reason, use the uniformed police and take established legal and constitutional means."
- "This intimidation must stop."
Despite his allegations, the MP did not specify the grounds for the alleged arrest attempt or share any official communication from law enforcement agencies.
As of the time of reporting, neither the National Police Service nor Royal Media Services has released statements addressing the claims or the overnight presence of armed men at the premises.
