Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia was taken into police custody on Monday morning after spending the previous night at the Royal Media Services (RMS) premises.
The legislator had sought refuge at the media house following reports that police officers were waiting to arrest him. In a video obtained by People Daily Digital on August 3, 2026, Kaguchia is seen being apprehended at the RMS offices.
Earlier, Kaguchia had alerted the public about heavily armed and hooded officers surrounding the media station in an effort to detain him. Opposition leaders and legal representatives stayed at the RMS overnight, accusing security agencies of attempting to intimidate the MP.
Kaguchia is currently under investigation over alleged inciteful remarks he is said to have made during a political rally held on August 1, 2026, in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County.
