Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia was taken into custody and detained at Kamukunji Police Station following his arrest on Monday.

Initially held at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters, Kaguchia was later transferred to Kamukunji, where his legal team and fellow Members of Parliament have gathered.

His lawyers have raised concerns over the lack of formal notification regarding the reasons for his arrest. They also reported that his phone was confiscated and that access to him was initially limited.

Authorities have yet to disclose any charges against the MP.

Kaguchia was apprehended after spending the night at Royal Media Services. He had stayed there following a television interview amid fears that detectives were waiting to arrest him over comments he allegedly made on political issues.

Several political leaders have criticized the government, accusing it of selectively enforcing the law and targeting certain figures for political purposes.

Meanwhile, demonstrations have erupted in Mukurwe-ini Constituency, with supporters demanding Kaguchia's release ahead of his anticipated court appearance.
