Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament John Philip Gichohi Kaguchia was released on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, after Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Theresa Nyangena granted him bail.
The MP was granted a bond of Ksh1 million with the option to pay a cash bail of Ksh250,000. He faces charges of offensive conduct likely to cause breaches of the peace, under section 94(1) of the Penal Code.
However, Kaguchia's defence team challenged the charges, arguing that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had not properly framed them. Consequently, the court deferred the hearing on the objection to plea-taking to Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
More details are expected as the case progresses.
