Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia was taken into custody by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) early Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Royal Media Services (RMS) offices in Nairobi.
The MP had spent the previous night inside the media house, citing security concerns after alleging that over 40 armed, masked individuals surrounded the premises following his appearance on the Kiririmbi Show.

In a social media post in the early hours of Monday, Kaguchia described a heavy security presence around RMS, including roadblocks and spike strips along Maalim Juma Road near Dennis Pritt Road. He noted that the armed men were not in police uniforms, raising questions about their identity.
