Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has strongly rejected former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s assertion that he receives insider information from government sources regarding President William Ruto’s plans.
Murkomen, speaking during a Sunday service at ACK St Stephen's Chepkoilel in Eldoret, described the claims as unfounded rumours aimed at creating a false impression that Gachagua has special access to confidential government intelligence.
"Recently, someone claimed they were informed by the National Intelligence Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations about the President’s plans to launch Vision 2060, but this is completely untrue," Murkomen said.
He pointed out that President Ruto had already announced his intention to discuss Kenya’s future openly on his Facebook page hours before the official unveiling of the Vision 2060 report on July 27.
"Before the report was even made public, the President had posted about his upcoming address. It is misleading for anyone to suggest they have secret information to appear connected to security agencies," Murkomen added.
The Interior CS further criticised Gachagua for politicising national security matters, calling it irresponsible for a former deputy president to make such allegations.
Gachagua had claimed in a discussion with political analyst Herman Manyora that his sources within State House leaked details of the President’s planned address, which he said was meant to shift public focus from the country’s challenges by unveiling a long-term development vision.
He also suggested the original plan was to launch "Vision 2060," which was later renamed "post-2030 vision," though he maintained the core message remained unchanged.
