A Nairobi-based lawyer, Ally Ahmed Ally, has been arrested on allegations of misappropriating Ksh 49.4 million intended for a land purchase in the city.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended Ally at the Nairobi Regional Office in Kilimani. He is being investigated for stealing by an agent, an offence under Section 283(b) of the Penal Code.
Investigations reveal that the funds were entrusted to Ally by a client between November 16, 2023, and January 3, 2024, for the acquisition of a parcel of land. Instead of completing the transaction, the advocate, who operates under Rasheed Rage and Nassir Advocates, allegedly diverted the money for personal use.
Ally is currently in police custody as detectives finalize preparations for his court arraignment.
