A Nairobi man, Joshua Mtongoi, has publicly addressed the reasons behind his sudden decision to block his girlfriend Sarah Nana, whose tearful TikTok plea for reconciliation went viral.
Sarah, 22, gained widespread attention after sharing a video of herself crying and begging Joshua to unblock her following an unexplained cut-off on August 1. The emotional clip struck a chord online, prompting popular YouTuber Oga Obinna to invite Sarah onto his show, Obinna TV Extra, to share her perspective.
Sarah's Side of the Story
During the interview, Sarah revealed that she and Joshua had been in a relationship for about two years before he abruptly blocked her on all platforms without any explanation. She described the silence as deeply painful, especially amid rumours that Joshua had moved on to another woman while still with her. Sarah expressed her desire for closure and for Joshua to communicate with her.
Joshua’s Explanation
Joshua later appeared on the same platform to explain his actions. He described the relationship as emotionally draining, citing Sarah's frequent crying and perceived neediness as overwhelming. He said:
- "She cries all the time, whether happy or sad."
- "She did not want me to go to work and focused mainly on intimacy."
- "I get tired too, and she does not understand."
Additionally, Joshua admitted to having lied about his age, revealing he is actually 30 years old but told Sarah he was 25 to reduce their age gap.
He also insisted that he had been a committed partner, providing gifts and supporting Sarah’s personal care, while working towards their future. When offered a sponsored date to reconcile, Joshua declined, preferring to invest the funds instead.
