Nation Mourns Former High Court Judge Joseph Mbalu Mutava
Former High Court Judge Joseph Mbalu Mutava has died at Makindu Hospital after collapsing at his home in Kithasyu, Makueni County.
Former High Court Judge Joseph Mbalu Mutava passed away on Saturday morning after collapsing at his rural home in Kithasyu, Makueni County. Family members reported that he was rushed to Makindu Sub-County Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mutava reportedly fell ill late Friday night after attending a burial in his neighbourhood, where he had shown no signs of sickness. His body was subsequently transferred to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi as preparations for his final rites began.
Legacy and Condolences
Mutava, who was appointed to the High Court in 2011 and served at the Milimani Commercial Courts until his removal in 2016, was married to Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu. She, along with family and friends, is mourning his loss.
Several prominent leaders have expressed their sympathies. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka praised Mutava for his honorable and distinguished service. Parliamentary Service Commission Commissioner Johnson Muthama, a close family friend, extended heartfelt condolences to Jessica Mbalu and the family.
Makueni MP Suzanne Kiamba and Mavoko MP Patrick Makau King’ola also conveyed their sorrow, highlighting the significant loss to both the family and the nation.
