NCBA Golf Series Draws 200 Players to Nyali for Coast Leg
Nyali Golf & Country Club hosts 200 golfers vying for spots in the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale this weekend.
The NCBA Golf Series continues its nationwide tour this weekend with over 200 golfers set to compete at the Nyali Golf & Country Club in Mombasa on Saturday, August 22.
Participants will battle across multiple categories including Overall Men Gross, Overall Lady Gross, Division Two Men and Ladies, Division Three Overall, and Juniors. Winners from each category will secure qualification slots for the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale slated for November at Karen Country Club.
Notable contenders expected include last year’s overall gross champions William Kaguta and Mary Kandu. This event follows the recent Nyahururu Golf Club leg held on August 8, where Cyrus Lwenyi claimed the overall title with a gross score of 78. Other winners from Nyahururu include Simon Ngugi (Division One Men), Susan Hiuko (Ladies), and Jobsam Njoroge (Junior category), all of whom have qualified for the Grand Finale.
Supporting Junior Golf Development
In addition to the Nyali tournament, NCBA continues to back junior golf with the 2026 NCBA U.S. Kids Golf Nairobi Fall Local Tour kicking off on Sunday, August 23, at Thika Greens Golf Resort. This event will host boys and girls aged 5 to 18, competing in divisions tailored to their age groups to foster skill development and competitive experience.
The Nairobi Fall Local Tour will visit multiple courses including Thika Greens, Ruiru, Limuru, Muthaiga, Migaa, Thika Sports, and Royal Nairobi, culminating in a Tour Championship at VetLab Sports Club. Organized in partnership with U.S. Kids Golf and the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya, the tour allows young players to earn Priority Status points that could qualify them for international U.S. Kids Golf events.
NCBA’s Broader Commitment to Golf
NCBA’s involvement in golf extends beyond the series and junior tournaments. The bank is also sponsoring the Patron’s Cup at Muthaiga Golf Club from August 21 to 23, the Strathmore Alumni Golf Tournament at Migaa Golf Club on August 21, the Limuru Chairman’s Prize on August 22, and the Mombasa Kambasome Golf Tournament at Mombasa Golf Club on the same day.
NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora emphasized the bank’s dedication to the sport, stating, “Golf continues to provide an important platform for us to support talent, create opportunities and bring communities together. This weekend demonstrates the breadth of our commitment, with the NCBA Golf Series taking the competition to the coast, while our support for junior and club golf provides opportunities for golfers at different stages of their journey. We remain committed to growing the game and empowering golfers to pursue their ambitions.”
