Newly released CCTV footage has intensified scrutiny surrounding the disappearance of a businessman in Mlolongo. The recordings reveal his last known movements just before he was reportedly abducted outside a local entertainment venue.
The footage, broadcast on August 1, 2026, shows the businessman arriving at the location in the evening, where he meets two individuals separately. Initially, he is dropped off by a white vehicle and enters the establishment. Shortly after, a man identified as a senior police officer joins him, followed by a woman who later sits with them.
Captured on camera, the businessman uses two mobile phones before leaving the venue while still engaged in a call. Witnesses claim that masked men abducted him moments after he exited.
Family Raises Concerns Over Police Role
Relatives have expressed frustration over the circumstances, particularly questioning the involvement of those present with the businessman prior to his disappearance. The family highlights the emotional distress faced by his children, who continue to ask when their father will return.
Five days post-disappearance, the family remains without answers, as the sequence of events recorded by the CCTV prompts further inquiries.
CCTV Evidence in Past Police Investigations
This case follows previous instances where surveillance footage played a pivotal role in police accountability. Notably, CCTV recordings were instrumental in the investigation of the fatal shooting of businessman Gathu Matheri in Karatina, Nyeri County. The footage showed two police officers confronting and fatally shooting the businessman, leading to an Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) probe and the arrest of a police constable.
