Newcastle United has confirmed that English winger Harvey Barnes has signed a long-term contract extension, keeping him at St James' Park beyond his previous two-year deal.
Barnes, who joined Newcastle from Leicester City in 2023, has been an integral part of the squad, scoring 16 goals in 57 appearances last season and accumulating 30 goals in 120 matches overall for the Magpies.
The 28-year-old England international expressed his delight at the new agreement, stating, "It feels great to sign this new contract so early before the new season starts. It's been an amazing journey so far and I'm delighted to continue that."
He added that his affection for the club and city has grown since joining, saying, "I love everything about it – the city, the stadium, the people – and I'm really happy extending my time here."
Newcastle's manager Eddie Howe praised Barnes for his consistent performances and impact, highlighting his ability to deliver in crucial moments. Howe remarked, "Harvey's new contract is very well deserved and a reflection of the work he's put in and the quality he's shown throughout his three years at Newcastle United."
This extension comes at a critical time for Newcastle, who have recently seen the departures of key players such as Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, while also aiming to retain captain Bruno Guimaraes amid interest from other clubs.
