Senior Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have voiced strong support for President William Ruto’s Beyond Vision 2030 development plan, emphasizing its roots in the late Raila Odinga’s original vision.
At a thanksgiving event for Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Osogo in Kendu Bay, ODM senior leader Oburu Odinga highlighted the party’s historic role in crafting the blueprint. He stated, "Vision 2060 was an idea of our late Raila Amolo Odinga. The team that developed it was formed by him, so we fully back it as our contribution to the coalition."
Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’ also expressed support for President Ruto’s leadership, signaling a shift in ODM’s cooperation with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He remarked, "We now have a new leader called William Samoei Ruto, and we are moving forward with him."
The leaders criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for promoting divisive politics, underscoring the need for unity. ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga called on marginalized communities to organize and stay united, warning against arrogance in national politics. She urged, "The game is 90 minutes. Some communities may feel sidelined now, but we are preparing and will command respect in time."
This gathering reflects growing collaboration between ODM and UDA ahead of the next general election, despite ongoing political realignments within Kenya’s opposition landscape.
