An off-duty police officer attached to Mowlem Police Station is recuperating in hospital after being stabbed during an attempted robbery in Nairobi.

The incident occurred around 4:05 a.m. on Monday as the officer was walking home with his wife after spending the night at a tavern in Kayole. Upon reaching an apartment in the Mowlem area, the couple was confronted by three men on a motorcycle armed with a knife.

The officer resisted the attack and fought back, causing the assailants to flee. However, he sustained two stab wounds to the neck and an injury to his left eye during the struggle. Colleagues confirmed he was off duty and unarmed at the time.

He was initially taken to Mama Lucy Hospital for first aid before being referred to Nairobi West Hospital for specialized care. His condition is reported as stable.

Police have launched investigations to identify and apprehend the three suspects who escaped the scene. Authorities have noted a rise in violent robberies involving armed gangs in parts of Nairobi and are intensifying efforts to dismantle these criminal networks.
