Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-Kenya) leader Eugene Wamalwa has revealed plans for the United Alternative Government (UAG) to embark on a three-day political tour across Western Kenya in August 2026. This move comes shortly after the Linda Mwananchi movement received strong backing in the region.
Wamalwa stated on August 1, 2026, that the opposition coalition aims to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election. The tour will include stops in key counties such as Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Busia.
Commemoration of Michael Kijana Wamalwa
On August 23, the coalition will hold a special rally in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, to honour the legacy of the late Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa. Eugene Wamalwa emphasized the importance of this event as part of the broader campaign activities.
Strengthening Opposition Alliances
Wamalwa expressed gratitude to Western Kenya residents for the warm reception given to Linda Mwananchi leaders during their recent visits. The opposition has been conducting a series of rallies in Kakamega, Bungoma, and Busia, where leaders like Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna attracted significant crowds.
The growing collaboration between the United Alternative Government and the Linda Mwananchi movement signals a united front among opposition groups aiming to consolidate support ahead of the upcoming elections.
