Siaya Governor James Orengo has officially welcomed former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa to the Linda Mwananchi movement, led by Edwin Sifuna, following her exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

The announcement came on July 31, 2026, after Jumwa met with Orengo at her home in Kakuyuni, Kilifi County. During the meeting, Jumwa indicated her intention to align with the new political outfit, hinting at a fresh chapter in her political career.

"I had ditched UDA and enrolled in consultation this morning; I have met with Orengo, and we have spoken. I am still consulting, but the future is bright," Jumwa said.

Orengo Praises Jumwa’s Political Influence

Governor Orengo expressed strong support for Jumwa, describing her as a key political figure closely linked to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He noted that Raila held Jumwa in high esteem, affectionately referring to her as "Mekatilili wa Menza" for her resilience and boldness.

"I am the party leader of Linda Mwananchi. I came to pay a courtesy call because I could not wait any longer. Mheshimiwa Waziri Aisha Jumwa has always been Raila Odinga’s political daughter," Orengo said. "She is very close to Raila’s heart. Whenever she was absent during ODM campaigns, Raila felt the rallies were incomplete. Wherever Raila is today, I believe he is very happy with her decision."

Encouragement to Expand Political Reach

Orengo urged Jumwa to embrace a wider political role beyond Kilifi County, emphasizing her national appeal and experience. He encouraged her to join the Linda Mwananchi movement’s nationwide mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election.
