Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has publicly called for the resignation of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin. He accused the two officials of neglecting their duties by failing to take action against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies.
In a video circulated on social media, Sudi criticized security agencies for not addressing what he described as provocative statements by Gachagua and members of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which he believes risk escalating ethnic tensions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Calls for Accountability
- Sudi argued that Gachagua should have been detained earlier due to his comments that could incite tribal conflict.
- He challenged CS Murkomen and DCI Director Amin to either act decisively or vacate their positions, emphasizing that empty rhetoric without concrete measures is unacceptable.
- The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) was also urged to enforce the law and prevent inflammatory remarks.
Allegations of Intimidation in Ol Kalou
The MP further alleged that during the recent Ol Kalou by-election, supporters of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) faced intimidation and threats from individuals linked to Gachagua’s camp. Sudi warned that such political rhetoric mirrors the patterns that led to the 2007/2008 post-election violence, underscoring the need for vigilance.
Arrest of Gachagua Ally
In a related development, Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia, an ally of Gachagua, was detained by DCI officers after an overnight stay at Royal Media Services studios. His arrest followed his appearance on Inooro TV's Kiririmbi programme, where authorities believe his remarks amounted to incitement and threats against President William Ruto’s supporters ahead of the upcoming elections.
